What this actually does
- Replaces individual notifications with scheduled digests. Daily, weekly, or monthly summaries instead of one email per topic or reply.
- Lets members reply to the forum from their inbox. They hit Reply in their email client and the response posts back to the correct thread — no login, no tab switching.
- Gives members control over their notifications. Per-forum and per-notification-type opt-out preferences, managed from the front end.
- Turns email into a two-way channel. Notifications go out, replies come back in. Your forum becomes part of your members’ normal workflow.
How it works
- bbPress Notify (No-Spam) generates the notification event.
- Digests collects notifications and delivers them on a schedule you define — daily, weekly, or monthly.
- Opt-Out lets each member choose which forums and notification types they want to hear about.
- Reply by Email injects reply-to headers into outgoing notifications. When a member replies from their email client, the add-on processes the message and posts it back to the correct forum thread as the correct user.
- Members get fewer, better emails — and can participate without ever visiting the forum.
