ParticipantI just purchased your Reply By Email plug. Do you suggest having a separate email for this? Or can I use an existing one like info@…?
Also, can people opt out of receiving these emails?
Thanks!

KeymasterHi Dan,
Thanks for getting the Reply by Email add-on. I strongly recommend getting a dedicated mailbox for this as the plugin will read the inbox looking for new topics/replies. If you use an existing mailbox, this will translate in a pretty big performance hit, having to go through many unrelated messages.
Please have a look at https://usestrict.net/bbpress-notify-no-spam-reply-by-email-documentation/ for more information.
As for opting out, the notifications are triggered by the free bbPress Notify (No-Spam) plugin. Ideally, only people who have subscribed to a forum or topic would be receiving the notifications. That said, there are some cases where admins need to force notifications to all people of a given role or roles. For this particular scenario, I offer the Opt Out add-on:

ParticipantDo I need to have the WPSMTP plugin set to the same email I use for RPE? I also have your digest plugin and I use info@… for that. With the RPE I am using a new email address called messageboard@…
Will this still work, or should they be the same? Make sense?
Thanks!

KeymasterWP_SMTP will only handle the delivery of the bbpnns notifications. The RBE will be reading the inbox that you configure in the RBE settings. It will also inject a reply-to header in the bbpnns notifications so that when the recipient clicks to reply, the address will be the special address for that user/topic combination.
They can be different addresses.

ParticipantOne more question… can people choose to get the Daily Digest OR the individual emails that they can reply too? It seems that when they subscribe, they are option for both. I know they can opt out of receiving the daily digests, but what about people who want to get the Digests, but not the individual emails? Make sense? Just trying to wrap my head around this. 😊
Thanks!

KeymasterThey can disable the ‘Instant notifications’ option in the Digests settings of their profile page. You can also set the default Instant Notifications option for new users in the Digests settings tab.
For in depth information, please see https://usestrict.net/bbpress-notify-no-spam-digests-documentation/.

ParticipantGetting there. Creating topics by email is working. 😊
Replying by email sort of works. It sends the email and I get another email with the reply. It just doesn’t show in the actual forum. I am enclosing a screenshot with my settings (no private info is shown).
I am using your Digest plugin as well if that matters.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

It sounds like the webhook isn’t being called by anything. What happens if you copy/paste the webhook URL in a separate tab?

ParticipantIt worked when I used the webhook manually. It came down to the Cron Job not configured properly. All is working! Thanks! 😊
