      Hi,

I have been testing the shipping rates UPS. I see that the rates for each product are not coming up to what I get through the UPS website. I am using the “Per Product Option” and assigning the package class but no matter what I do I can not get the price to fluctuate at all. It is either returning a cost of $9.29 or it jumps to $16.49 and there is no room for adjusting. I have tried to manipulate the length height and width fields to return the 11.25 value that the package actually costs to ship. I dont know if I have a setting messed up or if there is an issue with the rates UPS is sending back to me.
      Thanks,
      ED

      Hi Ed,

The plugin performs a calculation of what volume the cart items would take up if they were stacked inside a tight box.

So, for example, if you have 1 item of 10x10x10, it will calculate the volume of that item.

Add another item next to it and you now have an overall box 20x10x10.

Add a third item (behind the first) and you have 20x20x10.

A fourth item will not make a difference, as it’s taking up the empty space behind the second item.

Adding the 5th item changes things because we stack it on top of one of those 4 boxes that make up the first level.

Now you have 20x20x20, and adding another 3 boxes to the second level will not make a difference, until you expand the number of columns or rows (which happens after the second level is complete).

That’s why you see a jump in the price.

To understand why UPS is returning different values, I need to see the request and response XMLs that you can get from Admin -> Settings -> eShop Shipping Extension.

Please send them to vinny [at] usestrict [dot] net.

      HI

I understand the volume but this is just for one item that I am manipulating the values for to get it to the minimum shipment price. The actual dimensions of the product is 12 X 3 X 6 when I only buy that product it returns the $9.29 price then I try to adjust the dimensions to different numbers expecting to see the cost increase however no matter how I manipulate the dimensions the price doesn’t change until the dimensions of the object exceed 18 X 18 X 18 that is when the price jumps to 16.49. I was hoping that I could manipulate one field of the dimension and see a slight increase in the cost so I am able to closely match the price that it costs to actually ship the product. However if the values would return from UPS accurately this wouldn’t be an issue at all.

I will send you the info to your email about the XML’s

      Thanks,
      Ed Broderick
