  I’ve noticed that users who were already registered on the site before I installed Digest cannot change their digest/notification options. I’ve set up a test user who cannot make any changes to these options when they click ‘save’. They revert back to ‘never’ and ‘unticked’ for instant notifications.

  That sounds like a bug. Please email me with the exact steps to replicate the issue.
