  is there any way of inserting the global opt-out checkbox into forms other than the standard profile editor? My members edit their user details using a separate form (from Toolset) but I need the global opt-out to appear there.

  This sounds like a good opportunity to provide a shortcode for the checkbox. I’ll put it in my todo list, higher priority.
