bbPress Notify (No-Spam) causing an error when a user posts new topic

Hi Vinny,
There’s a new issue happening with my client’s site. Whenever someone posts a new topic to the forum it’s throwing a 504 Gateway timeout. The post ultimately goes through, but the users are getting confused by the error. I went through and deactivated all the plugins (except BbPress) and it worked fine until I activated Bbpress Notify(No-spam). Which leads to me believe that there is an issue with that particular plugin.

Any idea why that might be?

Hi Mariah,

The timeout is the telltale sign that you need to enable background notifications. What happens is that when the user creates the topic, bbpnns tries to notify all recipients. Enabling the background notifications makes it schedule the mailouts instead of trying immediately.
